The reliable functioning of a traffic system the size of the Sitina Tunnel in Slovakia, which is used by more than 60,000 vehicles every day, is of paramount importance. In this context, Tritium, a leading provider of advanced technology solutions, relies on atvise®, Bachmann's visualization software.

The Sitina Tunnel (Tunel Sitina or Sitiny in Slovak) is a highway tunnel on the D2 highway in the Slovak capital Bratislava. Located on one of the busiest stretches of road, the Sitina Tunnel requires a sophisticated control system that meets a variety of requirements, especially in terms of safety. At the heart of this system is Bachmann's atvise®, which is responsible for traffic, ventilation, lighting and providing important information to drivers.

The decision to use atvise® is based on the use of open standards and the expandability of the system, which allows a flexible response to changes without having to replace the entire system. Reliability and cyber security plays a key role, especially in the field of critical infrastructure, which is why the Sitina tunnel project was equipped with the atvise® redundancy option.

This redundancy option ensures smooth operation in the event of a hardware or power failure. One active server continuously manages operations while a second server runs in the background. If the primary server fails, the second server automatically and seamlessly takes over control without any loss of information.

Bachmann's atvise® provides a clear display of all information, enabling a fast and targeted response to disruptions in tunnel operations. The intuitive user interface provides access to alarm logs, diagrams and traffic sign control, while the redundancy option ensures maximum operational reliability.

With atvise® in the Sitina Tunnel, Tritium is setting a pioneering example of efficiency, safety and innovation in transportation. The installation of the new control system, including site acceptance tests, was successfully completed in just one weekend of tunnel closure.

The standard visualization page contains an alarm log at the top showing the four current alarms and various buttons for searching or viewing alarms, graphs and history lists with standard filters, as well as information about the logged-in user. The buttons for switching between the tunnel technologies are located in the bottom bar. The screens of the technology areas are displayed using a display-container.

The traffic technology is divided into three sections: Tunnel, North section and South section. These areas are switched using the buttons in the orange frame. The traffic signs are edited using the buttons in the brown box.

It is possible to edit selected objects or display further information via a dialog window. In this example, the properties of a jet fan and the states it can assume are displayed. This allows information to be displayed where it is needed for each individual object.
