20 Years of atvise®
Web Technology, Open Standards and Visualization for the Future
20 years of atvise®: What began in 2006 as a visionary approach based on native web technology has evolved into a globally deployed HMI/SCADA platform with more than 100,000 installations. atvise® combines visualization, operation, operational data acquisition and SCADA based on open standards, providing a flexible foundation for a wide range of automation applications.
When web technology was still new to automation
When the basic idea for atvise® emerged in 2006, local Windows clients dominated the automation world. atvise® deliberately chose a different path: native web technology and open standards were to form the basis for a new generation of visualization solutions.
Today, this approach has become an integral part of modern HMI and SCADA systems. With atvise®, machines and systems can be monitored and operated using a standard web browser, without the need to install dedicated client software on the devices being used.
An early demonstration of the concept's viability came as early as 2007 with a project at Dubai Mall. There, atvise® monitors the occupancy of 13,500 parking spaces in real time. Since then, the platform has continued to evolve and significantly expanded its range of applications.
From HMI to distributed SCADA architectures
Today, the atvise® product family covers a broad spectrum, ranging from compact HMI interfaces and operational data acquisition to plant visualization and distributed SCADA architectures that can also be operated in the cloud.
The technological foundation remains native web technology and OPC UA. This allows atvise® to be flexibly integrated into different automation environments and scaled to meet a wide range of requirements. Applications range from individual machines and plants to cross-site systems and distributed control levels.
20 years of development with the future in mind
Over the past two decades, the platform has been continuously expanded: from early browser-based visualization and integration with Bachmann control systems to hot-standby redundancy and today's solutions for HMI, SCADA and cloud applications.
Throughout this development, one principle has remained unchanged: open standards, web technology and a flexible architecture as the foundation for future-proof automation solutions.
20 years of atvise® celebrated together
The 20th anniversary was, of course, also an occasion to celebrate together. As part of the atvise® Celebration Days, partners and colleagues spent two days at Lake Neusiedl, combining interesting presentations with plenty of opportunities for conversation and exchange. The celebrations concluded with a dedicated day for our employees and their families.
20 years of atvise®. 100,000+ installations. A technology that keeps moving forward.
